4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. 5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates. (Deuteronomy 6:4-9)
What are some practical ways in which we can make application of this passage in the day and age in which we live? Specifically the last portion of the passage.
7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.
Several people shared tonight during service…
Betty shared of how she’s been utilizing the time she spends brushing her teeth to be sensitive to God’s leading and pray for those God brings to mind.
Hal shared how everyday when he gets in his truck, he prays for God to direct his path and bring him in contact with people who need ministering to.
Christian shared how he subscribes to several devotions that are delivered to his email. During the day, here and there, he will read one of them. It only takes 1-2 minutes, yet is significant in bringing his attention back to God.
Joyce shared how she and her husband created a calendar for their family. (There’s 27 people in her immediate family – children and grandchildren. Each person is given a specific day. Then, each day of the month everyone prays for the person who has been given that day). What a beautiful and creative way to engage the whole family in praying for, supporting and encouraging one another…!
