If life is a journey, then middle school is, without a doubt, one of its toughest legs.In fact, few people emerge from the middle school years without some tale of pain or confusion. Just like any journey, middle school is best experienced with a guide—one person, or, better yet, a few people who know the path well, and who can turn a potentially perilous venture into an awesome expedition. Fuel exists to partner with parents in guiding middle school students toward an encounter with Jesus where their faith becomes their own. Fuel is an environment where parents, peers, and caring adults converge to create a safe place where life can be lived in community, and love for God and other people can be nurtured. Fuel aims to accomplish this through the following means: Sunday Morning: ConnectFuel meets during the 10:15 and 11:30 am services at Palm Valley Church. The heartbeat of Fuel is small groups. Every student who regularly attends Fuel on Sunday mornings is assigned to a Connect group. The groups are gender and grade specific, and we do our best to match students with groups and leaders who share their passions and hobbies. These Connect groups meet weekly after the teaching time in Fuel. Connect groups are where the truth and application of the message are unwrapped. Since Connect groups aim to do life together, they also meet regularly for off-site activities and outings. Wednesday NightFuel also meets on Wednesday nights at 7:00 - 8:00 pm for an energetic mix of live music, an engaging teaching and games—all designed to reach middle school students right where they are. Special EventsEach year, middle school students are invited to participate in several incredible events, which will challenge them in their relationships with God and other people. These events include "Others First" serving opportunities such as Fuel Gives Back and Spring Thing. Fuel also hosts off-site retreats like Summer Camp and Life Challenge Retreat. Fuel also offers a summer-long spiritual growth program called Vertical Summer, which is designed to take students further in their faith through deep studies of the Bible, service opportunities, and plenty of fun.
